The Huffington Post U.K.’s Culture section had a feature on nine women who chose to hide their gender in order to be published and/or be taken seriously as an author. Or, as in the case of J.K. Rowling, were advised by their “people” to hide their gender. What do YOU think? End results aside, do you think hiding their gender helped sell the book? Do you think that’s a step female filmmakers should consider taking, or does it feel slightly misleading and disingenuous?
